- TAL has identified renewable energy based power generation as an area which not only has promising prospects for and synergies with TAL's existing business activities, but is also strategically important for the sustainable development of society.
- TAL’s mission statement for renewable energy: ‘Develop expertise in clean energy generation and contribute to environmental friendly and sustainable development’ .
- A long term road map has been prepared which envisions creating competencies and assets in the areas of wind power, solar power and biomass power generation.
- The journey to achieve the milestones and destinations on TAL’s roadmap has begun. A 1.5 MW wind turbine generator has been commissioned in March 2010 in the state of Karnataka.
- A 10 MW solar PV power project is the next logical milestone on this roadmap.
