Manufacturing facilities in Lucknow are spread out over an 8 acre area with approximately 6000 sq, mtrs, of covered sheds, Special care is taken to ensure that the dust is at a minimum level. The shops are of adequate height with liberal floor area and are equipped with E.O.T. cranes and other material handling facilities.
Separate facilities have been earmarked for assembly of Distribution and Power transformers. Unlike most transformer manufacturers, TA has invested heavily in backward integration and does in-house production of major raw materials. Separate shops have been provided for: |
| |
|
-
Core processing (Slitting, Cutting and Annealing)
-
Conductor manufacturing (Drawing, Annealing and Paper covering)
-
Transformer Oil Processing III Tank fabrication
-
Winding
-
Assembly and tanking
TA, Lucknow has a manufacturing capacity of approx 5,000 MVA per annum of mixed transformer ratings. |

The manufacturing plant at Sitarganj is spread out over 12.5 acres and is fully equipped to manufacture EHV Power transformers upto the 400 kV voltage class. The manufacturing sheds occupy a total covered area of aprox. 23000 sq mtrs. ranging from 4 mtrs. to 24 meters in height, and spans of 16 mtrs to 24 mtrs.
The Plant has been designed for optimal material and work flow, and integrated manufacturing operations with separate bays planned for: |
| |
|
-
Single phase and Three phase 11 kV Distribution Transformers
-
Three phase 33 kV Distribution Transformers
-
Three phase 66 & 132 kV Power Transformers
-
Single phase and Three phase 220 & 400 kV Power Transformers
-
Coil Winding
-
Insulation processing
-
Core Slitting, Annealing and Cutting
-
Mild steel fabrication
-
Impulse Testing Laboratory
TA, Sitarganj has been planned for manufacturing capacity of approx. 12,000 MVA per annum of mixed transformer ratings and would be able to manufacture and deliver one 132 kV Power Transformer per day. |

Infrastructure is a key part of an engineering enterprise and TAL has focused on building adequate infrastructure since it’s inception in 1969 to support it’s business objectives.
Currently working out of two plants at Lucknow and Barabanki, UP, TAL further plans to augment it’s capacity through a state of the art plant planned at Sitarganj, Uttaranchal. To be commissioned by January 2007, this plant will be spread out over 12.5 acres and be fully equipped to manufacture Power transformers up to the 400 kV voltage class.
Our current manufacturing facilities are spread out
over an 8 acre area with approximately 50,000 sq. ft. of covered sheds.

Separate facilities have been earmarked for assembly of Distribution and Power transformers. In addition, unlike most transformer manufacturers, we have invested heavily in backward integration and undertake a large variety of raw material processing through separate shops handling: |

• Core processing (Slitting, Cutting and Annealing)
• Conductor manufacturing (Drawing, Annealing and Paper covering)
• Transformer Oil Processing
• Tank fabrication
• Winding
• Assembly and tanking |

DESIGN AND ENGINEERING
Good design is critical to the creation of a great product. TAL places due importance on design and has created a central design cell located at Lucknow where all the design and development activities are coordinated. The design office is totally computerized where in house software has been developed for accurate and fast design work. Design activities are overseen by an experienced design team – comprising of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and qualified draughtsmen proficient in Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques. |

EQUIPMENT
Extensive equipment (for both assembly of transformers and production of raw material) available in house ensures our ability to meet the tightest of deadlines and offer uncompromising quality and cost efficiency to our customers. Equipment available with us includes:
• Slitting Machines for slitting CRGO steel coils
• Roller hearth and Bell furnace for annealing CRGO laminations
• Strip flattening machines with edger rollers for accurate corner roundings
• Multi layered paper strip covering machines
• Winding Machines for handling heavy weight coil winding at variable speeds
• Core Cradles designed especially for high quality large Core Assembly
• Jigs for Coil processing / shrinking before assembly
• Large Capacity Air circulating ovens
• High vacuum filter machines for processing Trf. oil
• AutoClave with vacuum capability upto 0.5 Torr through Balzer, Germany double staged vacuum pump for processing jobs upto 50 MVA
• 80 tonne crane with inching facility |

TESTING
Since distribution and power transformers are manufactured under different processes and methodologies, TA has also created separate, independent test facilities for distribution and power transformers.
In addition, test facilities are available in-house for conductors, CRGO laminations and TOBS and Transformer Oil. All routine tests and temperature rise tests as per IS 2026 are performed in house. In addition, we ensure that all meters are calibrated and verified from recognized agencies at regular intervals to ensure accurate measurement of data. Short Circuit and Impulse tests are subjected to third party testing at CPRI (one of India’s leading, independent test centers). |
